BE YOURSELF – What Do You Really Want?
Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Do you set goals? Do you believe in destiny or predestination? Does taking charge of your life make sense to you?
New Year’s Resolutions most often fade as the year passes. Goal setting requires some personal discipline and destiny does take control out of our hands.
you would like your life to be like. Use what you learned from Stage Two while you worked on the life line, your strengths. Envision where you want to live, the car you want to drive, the family you want to have or not….
Do you want to be a billionaire like Bill Gates or be like the St. Louis Rams professional football player, Jason Brown, who gave up over $37.5 million dollars, bought a thousand acre farm in North Carolina and went to work on it. He had no experience but learned on YouTube how to work the farm. He did this to feed the hungry. Now he is teaching others how to farm. This sort of consideration would be some of your first thoughts. Maybe you think, “I’ve lived at the poverty level all my life. Now I would like to see how it feels to have a lot of money to spend as I want to.” There is nothing wrong with that kind of thinking. But if you don’t think such things through, they may later play on your mind and bring up feelings of guilt. Take time to think and make decisions.
After you do the top level considerations, think about the resources you have or might expect to support your decision. Will you need a college degree? Can you foresee any funding except getting a loan. Will you need to continue to live at home? The life line exercise should have helped with those considerations
All this is moving toward giving you enough information to make informed decisions as you continue to work toward being yourself. Of course, if you have access to professional career counseling or a life coach, you might want to invest in their wisdom.
